Naidupet













Naidupet is a municipal town and a new revenue division [Division] in Nellore district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India.It is the forth largest town in nellore district. It became a industrial town in the district.
National Highway 5 (India) passes through Naidupeta.



Geography

The Eastern Wing of Golden Quadrilateral National Highway (NH5) passes through the outskirts of the town. It is located on the banks of the Swarnamukhi river. It is fifth largest town in the district.This place is junction to Chennai, Venkatagiri, Nellore, Mallam and Tirupathi. From here, Chennai is about 106 km by road 66 km to Tirupathi, 35 km from Venkatagiri, 68 km from Nellore. People can get down at Naidupet railway station and from there lot of buses to Tirupathi.

Telugu is the most common language that is spoken in Naidupet. Besides Telugu the other prominent languages that are spoken in the region are Urdu and Tamil.A beautiful river named Swarnamukhi passes through this place.

Sankranthi[Pongal] festival is most famous here. After Sankranthi day, people will go to Banks of Swarnamukhi river and they celebrate kite festival, popularly known as Yeti pandaga. The Celebrations will be continued till 3 days starting from the Sankranthi Day.Urusu is also a famous festival in Naidupet, people from all around Nellore district will visit this place. People from all religions celebrate this festival which stands for "Unity in Diversity" of Indian Culture. In the Mid of every year, they celebrate Jatara , it is very famous for Goddess Poleramma Talli. Every year end i.e, in December month they celebrate Ayyapah Pooja , For this pooja they call people from Kerala,Karnataka....for drum soundings total girls and boys on that day come to temple and roam with God along with their Deepam...., total people in Naidupet celebrates all these festivals with out any religious feelings. Major crops are sugar cane, paddy, eucalyptus and Casurina plantations. Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary ...
Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary is popular for the largest habitats for pelicans in Southeast Asia, It is home to many other native as well as migratory birds. Some of the readily seen birds of the Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary are Babblers, Pelicans, Flamingos, Open Billed Stork, Coot, Night Heron and Waders. Apart from housing some of the rarest species of the avian population, the Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary is home to many mammals like jackals, slender loris and reptiles like monitor lizard, tortoises and snakes. There are some huts and view points along the Sanctuary to view the birds peacefully.
Naturalists here say many of the gorgeous birds here carry on the roosting and breeding activities and they even count and list number of birds they sighted in the sanctuary every day.
 
This bird sanctuary is also habitat for freshwater flooded forest tree species. Freshwater flooded forest trees are found only at Nelapattu in India. One freshwater flooded forest tree at Nelapattu is Barringtonia acutangula (Hijal). This tree also grows in uplands but the tree species available at Nelapattu is suitable to grow in flooded conditions lasting for 5 to 7 months at a stretch. The saplings can survive total submergence during the long duration of flooding.

The uniqueness of the sanctuary lies in the additional features that are offered. The environmental education centre, small museum, the library offers information for those who are interested in the subject. Tourists can spend some time in the library reading about the different species of birds and animals. The Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary also offers an auditorium which is well equipped with audio-visual systems for seminar and discussions. You could even spot some Deer in this sanctuary.The ideal time to visit Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary is between October and March as the weather then is extremely pleasant which gives greater opportunity to the visitors to enjoy the sight of birds and animals in their natural habitat. Good stay and food facilities are available in Naidu peta or Sulluru peta.

History of TADA



Tada is a town on the Chennai-Nellore highway, just over 65 km (40 mi) from Chennai(Madras), India and 80 km (50 mi) from Tirupathi. It is located in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh and is about 1.5 km (0.93 mi) north of the Andhra Pradesh border. This place is the exact border of the Andhra Pradesh.
Its nearest major railway station is Tada and Sullurpeta. NH-5 starts from Chennai to Kolkata, which passes through Tada. Pulicat lake lies east to Tada. Further inside is a place called Varadaiahpalem, a trek up to the waterfall its highlight, which are also called Ubbalamadugu Falls locally. It offers a nice trek and an experience of rock climbing too. The forest is not commercialised much and hence it is still a true forest, and not a tourist place.
The major languages spoken in Tada are Telugu and Tamil.


How to get there

The closest city to Tada is Chennai. Tada is well connected to Chennai via local trains and mofussil buses that head to Chennai from Tirupathi and Nellore.
Trains from Chennai heading to Sullurpeta from Chennai Central pass via Tada. There is a train every two hours and the last train from Taaves at 8:30 pm.

Sullurupeta is a municipality in Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh state, India. It is the mandal headquarters for sullurupeta mandal. It is the gateway of SHAR, Shriharikota Rocket Launching Station and often called as Rocket Town. Other names used Sullurupet.

Sullurupeta is located 13 degrees N and 80 degrees E. Since it is close to the equator, summers are hot and winters are pleasant. Since it is close to Bay of Bengal, one can expect high humidity.

With excellent 4 lane road, one can reach Chennai in 1 to 112 hrs and Nellore in 112 hrs. It is 80 km (50 mi) from Tirupati-Tirumala. Sullurpeta is at a distance of 12 km (7.5 mi) from Sricity which is a developing satellite city in the epicentre of Andhra Pradesh & Tamil Nadu.
One can reach Tirupati via road either going through Naidupeta-Srikalahasti-Tirupati (city) or going directly to Kalahasti. Since southern railway tracks passes through Sullurpeta, communication via train from Sullurpeta has become very convenient for folks in and around Sullurpeta. There are multiple suburban trains travelling from Sullurpeta to Chennai.

History

The origin of name "Sullurupeta" came from "Sullu" meaning rounds or circles and "peta" meaning town. Goddess Chengalamma, a grama devata or shakti has a temple in Sullurupeta. Legend goes that Chengalamma idol was found in the nearby river by few boys who were swimming and they brought it to the current location. Periodically there will be celebrations called tirunallu. During this time, thousands of people from surrounding villages take part. During these 'tirunallu', during one day a goat will be tied one end of the pole and will be circled in the air in front of the temple. This process is called "sullu", hence the name Sullurupeta. In addition to the 'sullu', there is also 'teppotsavam' where the idol of Sri Chengalamma will be carried on a "teppa", a boat, in the Kalangi river, which flows near the temple. Tirunallu also involve Mahishasura mardini and fireworks.

Satish Dhawan Space Center, SHAR

Sullurpeta in Nellore district is the gateway to the India's spaceport - Satish Dhawan Space Center, SHAR, Sriharikota High Altitude Range, which is 17 km (11 mi) from Sullurpeta. It called SHAR (Sriharikota range) by the local people. It is also near a bird sanctuary called Nelapattu.
National highway 5, which starts from Bharagora, in Odisha, passes through Sullurpeta en route to Chennai.

Chengalamma Temple


Goddess Chengalamma Parameswari manifested herself in the village of Sullurpeta on the Kolkata-Chennai highway and the temple for her was built on the bank of the Kanlangi river. History tells us that it was established during the fourth and fifth centuries. People also refer to her as the village goddess “Tenkali”. With the passage of time, she is being worshipped regularly by devotees as Chengalamma. Devotees turn up in large number to witness “Chengalamma Jatara” (fair).
The Village goddess who was called Tankali gained reputation as Sullurpeta Chengalamma Thalli and her idol in the temple faces the sea. Devotees from different parts of the State visit the place and fulfil their vows, referring the goddess as the mother who grants boons liberally. The naturally-formed image of the goddess adorning the hanging roots (vooda) of the banyan tree is really an awe-inspiring spectacle.
